Operating Room Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract
Location: Augusta, Georgia
Contract Length: 10 weeks
Job Overview
- Patient Population: Adults to Geriatrics
- Work Setting: Main Operating Room covering General, Neuro, Spine, Orthopedics, Robotics, Urology, Vascular, Colorectal surgeries
- Circulate and Scrub experience is required (hard stop)
- Unit Systems: Epic, Pyxis, 2 Da Vinci XI Robots
- Room Setup: 16 rooms with an average daily census of 35
- Shift: Day shift, 4x10 hour shifts (6:30 AM – 5:00 PM)
- Scrub color provided by facility
Schedule & Call Requirements
- Weekends: 2–3 weekends per 8-week schedule, either in-house or on call
- Call: 7-8 calls in an 8-week period, including 1 weekend call and 1-2 weekend shifts
- Call shifts:
- C1: 7 p.m.–7 a.m.
- C2: 7 a.m.–7 p.m.
- Additional 2–3 weekday night call shifts during the same 8-week period
- Floating: Rare, but may be required within facility and scope of practice
- Holidays: Expected to work major holidays if they fall within assignment period (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day)
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Georgia
- Minimum 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Certifications & Health Requirements
- Flu vaccination or signed declination required during flu season (Nov 1 – Mar 31)
- Tuberculosis screening: Negative PPD, QGold, or TSpot within 12 months; TB questionnaire required annually
- Immunizations:
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer; boosters may pend post start)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters may pend post start)
- Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap highly recommended but not required
Orientation & Compliance
- Orientation hours vary by contract length (e.g., 10 hours for 10-week assignment)
- Maximum Return to Office (RTO) time: 7 days
- RTO blackout dates: Spring Break (April 4th–12th)
- Full compliance with all requirements is mandatory to start on time; non-compliance results in a 2-week start delay due to bi-weekly orientation scheduling
- Candidate clinical fit will be reviewed prior to final approval
Professional Expectations
- Must review and sign Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy prior to start
- Expected to maintain professional appearance and adhere to facility policies
This position offers an opportunity to work in a high-volume, technologically advanced OR environment with a diverse surgical patient population. Prior travel experience is not required.
