ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Galion, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (2 shifts of 12 hours each, 7 PM to 7 AM)
Hours per Week: 24


Job Description

  • Part-time position with no blocked schedule exceptions.
  • Call required.
  • Must be willing to float to all campuses.
  • Cardiac ICU experience required, including post-cath intervention, balloon pump, and Impella.
  • No holiday or holiday week time-off requests will be approved.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio.
  • Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience, with CVICU experience within the last year.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Cardiac experience including post-cath intervention, balloon pump, and Impella.
  • Prior travel nursing experience.
  • ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Proof of I9 or attestation.
  • Government-issued photo ID (must be carried during hours of service).
  • 7-year criminal background check including SSN trace, national criminal search, sex offender registry, OFAC, education verification; must be updated annually.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals.
  • Ohio BCI and FBI fingerprint attestation required within 12 months of start; may start with fingerprints pending if clear background check on file.
  • NURSYS verification required for RN license within 30 days of start.
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start, updated annually, with attestation of ability to meet physical demands.
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start, updated annually and after breaks in service of 2+ months.
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • TDAP within 10 years or signed declination.
    • Negative 2-step TB test or equivalent within 12 months, updated annually.
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: titer or 2 adult MMR vaccines; booster required if negative/equivocal titers. Declinations not accepted.
    • Hepatitis B: titer, vaccine series, or declination.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination/documentation required during flu season (9/29–3/31); medical/religious exemptions allowed with approved facility form; masked at all times if exempt.

Certifications and Competencies

  • Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually (minimum 80% score).
  • Core training parts I, II, and III must be completed within 12 months and updated annually.
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required.
  • Additional certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC) but not specified for this ICU role.

Facility-Specific Requirements

  • Must review and sign unit-specific job description and new employee packet prior to start.
  • Completion of online Healthstream modules by specified deadlines; modules must be completed onsite within the first week.
  • Photo for badge required (headshot, shoulders up, white background, .jpeg format).
  • Respirator medical evaluation questionnaire and fit mask testing required prior to start; fit testing must be updated annually.
  • Skills check-offs for specific competencies (e.g., Stat Strip Nova Glucometer, Aseptic Compounding IV Medications) completed onsite during first week.
  • Attendance policy must be reviewed and signed prior to start.
  • Clinical onboarding independent study and self-assessment chart must be completed prior to start.

Additional Notes

  • Proof of 2 clinical references required (hospital evaluations accepted).
  • Performance evaluations required if previously worked with the facility for over 1 year; internal evaluations if over 2 years.
  • Radiation badges issued to applicable candidates (not managed by agency).
  • No holiday time-off requests will be approved; holiday work schedule cannot be guaranteed.

This position is ideal for experienced ICU RNs with cardiac ICU skills and prior travel experience who are flexible with scheduling and able to meet comprehensive compliance and certification requirements.
