Job Opportunity: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN)

Job Description

• Work in a fast-paced, high-volume general emergency department serving both adult and pediatric populations.
• Rotating shifts between Day and Mid shifts (07:00-19:30 / 11:00-23:30).
• Shift options: 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts accepted.
• Patient ratio typically 1:4, up to 1:5 with lower acuity patients.
• Patient diagnoses include a wide range of complex cases across pediatric through geriatric populations.
• Certifications in STEMI and Stroke care are required.
• Weekend shifts every other weekend required.
• Holiday shifts required as scheduled.
• Floating within the specialty and to other sister emergency departments as needed.
• On-call duties are not required.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year.
• Certifications issued by the American Heart Association:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• STEMI and Stroke certifications required.
• Must be able to pass medication and competency exams (including EKG/Arrhythmia).
• Background checks, drug screening, and health documentation required as per facility standards.

Work Environment

• Emergency Department with a combined adult and pediatric patient population.
• High acuity and complex patient cases.
• Rotating shifts with weekend and holiday coverage.
• Floating to other emergency departments within the system as needed.

Additional Requirements

• Physical exam, immunizations, and health screenings (including TB, Hepatitis B, MMR, Varicella, Flu vaccination or approved exemptions).
• Negative drug screen within 30 days prior to start.
• Two supervisory references within 1 year of start.
• Verification of at least 2 years of hospital or equivalent acute care experience within the last 5 years.
• Completion of required background checks and state-specific exclusion list screening.
• Compliance with facility-specific policies, dress code, and orientation requirements.

• Prior travel experience is not required for this position.
• On-call duties are not part of this role.
• Floating within the specialty and to other emergency departments is required.
