Position Details

  • Job Title: Cath Lab Registered Nurse
  • Location: Springfield, Illinois
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (06:30 AM - 07:00 PM)
  • Unit: 5-room Interventional Cardiac Cath Lab
  • Average Daily Census: 25 patients
  • Weekend Requirement: 2-3 weekends per contract
  • On-Call: Required as needed
  • Floating: May float within scope to meet facility needs
  • Schedule Flexibility: Block schedule requests can be discussed with manager

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in Cath Lab nursing (Interventional Cardiac Cath Lab experience required)
  • First-time travel nurses accepted
  • Required procedure experience:
    • Circulate Procedures
    • Diagnostic Catheterizations (Adult)
    • Left heart catheterization
    • Pulmonary Artery Line/Swan Ganz monitoring
    • Right heart catheterization
  • Required medication experience:
    • Procedural Sedation Administration and Monitoring
  • Professional skills:
    • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
    • Monitoring procedural sedation
  • Experience with Cerner electronic health record system required

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license in hand
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or RQI acceptable
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or RQI acceptable

Additional Requirements

  • Must work within Return to Office (RTO) restrictions: ideally no more than 5 days
  • Background checks and verifications required (including drug screening, education verification, and state-specific searches)
  • Physical exam within one year of start, including immunizations and TB testing per facility policy
  • Fit mask testing required prior to start
  • Badge photo required before start
  • Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
  • References: 2 professional references required

This position requires a skilled Cath Lab RN with interventional cardiac catheterization experience, strong procedural and sedation monitoring skills, and the ability to work a 3x12 day shift schedule including weekends and on-call duties. Candidates must hold an active Illinois RN license and have required certifications. First-time travel nurses are welcome.
