Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Telemetry
Location: Tyler, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit and Patient Population
- 36-bed unit with private rooms
- Patient ratio: 1:6
- Float required to units of equal or lesser acuity
- Patient ages range from young adult to geriatric
- Focus on medical cardiac care and recovery from cardiac interventions such as cardiac surgery, coronary artery stent placement, and pacemaker implant
- Also admits hemodynamically stable non-procedural cardiac patients
Schedule Requirements
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
- No local candidates accepted from specified surrounding counties
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse license in Texas
- Minimum 2 years of telemetry nursing experience, with telemetry experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - required as applicable
- Other certifications as applicable: PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, MAB, CPI, NIH Stroke Certification
Special Requirements
- EPIC experience required
Required Qualifications and Documentation
- I-9 verification
- Driver’s License or State ID
- E-Verify compliance
- 7-year background check (updated annually) including SS trace, county searches, nationwide, sex offender, education verification
- Education verification (diploma or transcript acceptable if verification pending)
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start (annual renewal required)
- Immunizations and health documents including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
- Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella (positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented history)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- Competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency as applicable
- Color blind testing (online)
- Unit-specific skills checklist annually
- Work history verification for 7 years
Additional Notes
- Clear headshot photo required for badge
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgment and HIPAA compliance required
- Fingerprinting may be required depending on location (time sensitive)
- Locals from certain counties are not eligible for this contract
This position is ideal for experienced telemetry RNs with prior travel contract experience who are comfortable working in a cardiac-focused telemetry unit and have EPIC system proficiency.
