Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - PCU Float
Location: Augusta, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Job Summary
- Patient Population: Adults to Geriatrics
- Float required to all Medical-Surgical (MS), MS Telemetry (MS Tele), and Progressive Care Unit (PCU) units within the hospital
- Typical nurse-to-patient ratio:
- PCU: 1:4-5
- MS, MS Tele: 1:5-6
- Unit systems used: Epic (required), Pyxis, SBAR
- Scrub color: Navy Blue
- Return to Orientation (RTO) required within 7 days
- Weekend shifts: Every other weekend (approximately 6 weekends in a 13-week contract)
- Floating is mandatory
- No call requirements
- Holiday work expectations:
- If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, expected to work it
- If 2 major holidays fall, expected to work both
- If 3 major holidays fall, expected to work 2 of them
- Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
- Current ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Current BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Compliance & Onboarding
- Full compliance with orientation and credentialing required to start on time; delays may result in a 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation scheduling
- Background check required within 30 days of start, including education verification
- Physical exam required within 12 months of start
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start (instant drug screen acceptable)
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months
- TB questionnaire (updated annually)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
- Flu vaccination or declination (required during flu season)
- References: 2 clinical references required
- Skills checklist within 12 months, updated annually
- Verification of most recent work history required (can be pending at start with proof it is in process)
Additional Information
- Floating across multiple units is mandatory
- No call responsibilities
- Orientation hours vary based on contract length
- Locals accepted at the same rate
- Dress and professional appearance policy must be reviewed and followed
This position offers a guaranteed 36 or 48-hour workweek and is suitable for nurses with at least 1 year of experience who are comfortable floating across multiple adult and geriatric care units including telemetry and progressive care.
