Travel/Contract Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical

Contract Length: 12 weeks

Unit Details

• General medical/surgical unit
• Primarily geriatric patient population with varying diagnoses
• Weekend schedule: Every other weekend
• No on-call required
• Floating within facility/scope of practice as needed

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
• Unit does not accept first-time travelers (prior travel experience required)

Required Qualifications & Certifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license for Georgia
• Epic experience required (HARD STOP)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or ARC accepted)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (AHA or ARC accepted)
• Other certifications may be required depending on specialty/unit (refer to clinical track guidelines)

Compliance & Orientation

• Full compliance required to start on time; delays may result in a 2-week pushback due to orientation scheduling
• Orientation hours vary based on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)
• Background check, education verification, and other standard credentialing required prior to start
• Physical exam within 12 months required
• Drug screening (10-panel) within 60 days required
• Immunizations and health documents required, including:

  • TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
  • Flu vaccination or declination (seasonal)

Additional Requirements

• Must work major holidays if they fall during assignment (expectation to work 1-2 holidays depending on number during contract)
• Color blindness test required
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required if assigned to telemetry or critical care areas
• Skills checklist and work history verification required within 12 months
• Two clinical references required

Notes

• Locals accepted at the same rate as travelers
• Floating may be required within the facility based on unit needs and scope of practice
• Prior travel experience is required; first-time travelers will not be accepted for this unit

This position is ideal for experienced RNs with prior travel contract experience who are comfortable working in a general med/surg setting with a geriatric population and have proficiency with Epic electronic health records.
