Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist - Pediatrics
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Must provide 2 supervisory references (charge nurses count as only 1 reference).
- Prefer close to 2 years of experience.
- Floating to other units is required for most positions.
- Ohio State license required for Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRTs).
Required Qualifications
- Current Ohio State license for RRTs.
- Minimum 2 years of experience preferred in Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics specialty.
- Must have 2 professional references (manager or supervisor). Peer references are not acceptable.
- Ability to float to different units as needed.
Certifications & Compliance Requirements
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification (AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted).
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted).
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification (AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted).
- NBRC credential required for RRTs.
- State license verification required within 30 days of start.
- Annual N95 fit testing required (specific mask models accepted).
- TB testing: Two PPDs or IGRA test within 12 months; additional requirements if positive.
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (Oct 31 - May 31); medical/religious exemptions require facility approval.
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine required within the last 10 years.
- Drug screening within 60 days prior to start, including a 9-panel drug test.
- Background check within 30 days of start, including 7-year county search, education verification, and international background check if applicable.
- Fingerprinting (OH BCI/FBI) required within 60 days of start and must be updated for each new contract.
- Education verification required (highest degree verified through National Student Clearinghouse or equivalent).
- Competency exams and medication/pharmacology tests as applicable.
Additional Requirements
- Must have a current government-issued photo ID matching the name on license and certifications.
- Address on driver's license must match the address on the RRT license.
- Candidates with Ohio driver's licenses must not live within 60 miles of the facility location (considered local).
- Code of Conduct and Confidentiality Agreement must be reviewed and signed prior to start.
- Infection Control Policy must be reviewed and signed prior to start.
- Unit-specific skills checklist required and must be updated annually.
- Resume or employment application copy required.
