Job Opportunity: Hospice Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Job Details

• Specialty: Hospice
• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM; support one weekend per week
• Average Patients per Day: 5-7 (Geriatric cases)
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
• EMR System: Experience required with HCHB
• On-Call: Yes (details to be discussed during interview)
• Travel Radius: Up to 60 miles from the hub/office
• Dress Code: Scrubs (any color), no jeans
• Device Provided: iPad
• Cell Phone Use: Not allowed for work purposes
• Mileage Reimbursement: Yes, at IRS standard rate

Required Qualifications

• License: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in hand for Washington state
• Experience: Minimum 1 year recent hospice nursing experience
• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required (AHA, ARC, Military accepted)
• Skills: Timely communication and documentation required; documentation must be completed by 9 AM the following morning
• Other: Must be able to support on-call duties

Compliance & Background Requirements

• Background checks including SSN trace, county searches (last 7 years), FACIS Level 1, nationwide sex offender, motor vehicle records, education and work history verification
• EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks within 90 days of start
• Fingerprinting as required by Washington state regulations (on-site if candidate has not lived in WA for past 3 years)
• Education verification of highest degree related to profession
• State-specific criminal history and employability status checks as applicable
• Signed orientation safety manual acknowledgment (updated annually)
• NURSYS verification for RN license
• Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
• Agency background attestation and acceptable use policy acknowledgment
• Proof of current auto insurance if job responsibilities include driving

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within last 12 months (physician statement)
• Fit mask test (N95 accepted)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (or TB questionnaire if applicable)
• Immunizations or titers for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• Drug screening (9 panel) within last 12 months
• Seasonal flu vaccination or facility-specific declination form required for flu season
• COVID vaccination or facility-specific declination

Additional Requirements

• Two professional references within 2 years of start date
• Full 7 years of work history documented with no gaps
• Annual skills checklist and competency exams as required
