Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - NICU

Location: Modesto, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work rotating weekend shifts
  • Attend deliveries including high risk and well baby cases

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in California
  • Minimum 1 year of recent NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care) experience within the last year
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year background check required within 6 months of start, including SSN trace and county searches
  • Annual updates required for EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and FACIS Level 3 screenings
  • Education verification required (Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred)
  • Sex offender search required within 90 days of start
  • Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to CA law)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • TB screening: Negative test or chest x-ray within 90 days of start, renewed annually
  • Immunizations required or proof of immunity for:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
    • Hepatitis B (series or declination)
    • Varicella (chickenpox)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30) or signed declination
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually (with accommodations for religious exemptions or facial hair)
  • Respiratory safety clearance required, renewed annually

Certifications (Must Have)

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - AHA/AAP only, must be Instructor or Advanced Provider Course
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC only (verify by position)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA or ARC only (verify by position)
  • CCRN (Critical Care RN) - verify by position
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - valid for 4 years, verify by position
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - typically required for Labor & Delivery, verify level required
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - verify by position

Competency Exams

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam may be required for some units
  • Unit-specific skills checklist required, renewed annually

Additional Requirements

  • Full 7 years of work history with no gaps over 30 days must be documented and verified
  • Two professional references required (Aya requirement, not client)
  • Candidate must review and sign various facility-specific documents prior to start, including:
    • Standards of Business Conduct
    • Code of Conduct
    • Vendor Training
    • Regulatory Orientation
    • Dress Code Policy
    • Conditional Offer of Employment Attestation
    • Religious Accommodation Forms (if applicable)
    • TB Questionnaire (signed by healthcare provider)
  • Photo for badge required prior to start

Notes

  • Candidates with religious exemptions for vaccines or facial hair must complete specific exemption forms and receive approval
  • Failed fit tests due to facial hair require shaving and retesting; other failures may require PAPR training
  • Candidates must comply with all immunization and health screening requirements to maintain clearance
  • Some certifications and requirements may be position-dependent; verify with recruiter or manager as needed
