Job Details

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC required
  • NIH Stroke Certification (preferred)
  • Other preferred certifications:
    • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) preferred
    • Chemotherapy certification preferred for oncology units

Required Licensure

  • Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse license for Michigan
  • License verification must be run within 30 days prior to start

Required Documents & Compliance

  • Valid Driver’s License or government photo ID
  • Background checks including:
    • 7-year county, national criminal, federal checks
    • SSN trace, FACIS Level 3, OFAC, SAM.gov, National Sex Offender Registry
  • Education verification (minimum education requirement must be met)
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days prior to start
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start (for travel agency compliance)
  • Fit mask test (N95 required; PAPRs accepted with approval) within 1 year prior to start
  • Immunizations and health documents:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (valid within 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (annual updates required)
    • Proof of immunity or vaccination for Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or declination
    • Varicella vaccination or titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
  • Fingerprinting required for Behavioral Health units (not applicable for PCU)

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Michigan
  • Minimum of 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, including experience within the last year
  • ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Additional Requirements

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam with 80% pass rate, updated annually
  • Skills checklist current within the last year and updated annually
  • Employment application including last 5 years of employment with explanations for gaps over 30 days
  • Photo for badge (passport style, shoulders up, solid white or beige background)
  • Confidentiality and security obligations acknowledgment
  • Orientation welcome attestation form

Notes

  • Prior travel experience is not required for this position.
  • Floating within scope is expected to meet facility needs.
  • Weekend work is required every other weekend.

This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with at least 2 years of PCU experience who is flexible with floating and weekend shifts, and who meets all licensure and certification requirements.
