Registered Nurse – ER (Emergency Room)

Location: Carthage, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Assignment Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:00 PM – 6:00 AM)
Hours per Week: 36

Job Details

• Unit: Emergency Room (ER)
• Number of Openings: 2
• Blocked schedules (grouped shifts) are not accommodated due to small team size.
• First-time travelers are accepted if they have prior ED experience.
• Candidates with 1 year of ER experience are accepted.

Required Certifications

• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
• PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)

Required Licenses

• Valid RN license in Illinois

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Illinois
• Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
• PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Health and Compliance Requirements

• Physical exam within 12 weeks of start date
• Negative TB test (PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or T-spot) within 12 weeks; if past positive, a negative chest X-ray within 1 year is required
• Up-to-date immunizations or titers for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or vaccine series)
  • Varicella (titer, 2 vaccines, or history of chickenpox)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (Tdap required)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or documented declination required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31)
• COVID-19 vaccination preferred but not required (provide documentation if available)
• 9-panel drug screen within 12 weeks of start (instant drug screen acceptable)

Background and Screening

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
• Emergency contact form required prior to start
• Background check within 1 year, including SS trace, county searches for last 7 years, nationwide, and sex offender registry
• Annual EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
• Illinois Adult Abuse Registry Search (can be pending at start; notify facility if completed)

Competency Requirements

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required for all RNs)
• Skills checklist (annual requirement)
• Competency exam as applicable by profession (must meet or exceed passing score)

References

• 2 professional references required for travel, allied, or per diem acute care roles (within 3 years of start)
