Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Seattle, Washington
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights, 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (option for 3x12 shifts)
Patient Ratio: 1:1
Hours per Week: 48
Job Overview
- Care for childbearing women and newborns across antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn stages.
- Work in a high-acuity Level 3 Perinatal center with approximately 70% complex high-risk patients.
- Facility includes a Level 4 NICU regional center.
- Approximately 150 births per month.
- Unit includes 2 operating rooms for C-sections, BTLs, and postpartum D&Cs.
- Second Labor & Delivery RN acts as "baby catcher" for well, non-compromised babies.
- Floating within the hospital is required; floating to sister hospitals is not.
- Weekend work is required.
- Block scheduling accommodations are not available.
- Locals and first-time travel nurses are accepted.
- Pending license holders may be accepted.
- Return-to-Office (RTO) restrictions: maximum 1 week.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington State.
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, with experience within the last year required.
- Certifications required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- FHM (Fetal Heart Monitoring)
- Education: Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, sex offender search, and state-specific WA WATCH search.
- Education verification or diploma/transcript required.
- Physical exam (signed by physician within 1 year) required by agency.
- Fit mask test within 9-12 months of start; PAPR testing available onsite if fit test failed.
- Immunizations and titers required or declination documentation for:
- Tdap (within 10 years)
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (series completion or declination with waiver)
- Varicella (vaccines or titer; history of disease not accepted)
- Influenza vaccination or medical exemption/declination with education module completion during flu season (Sept-April)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within required timeframes; positive TB requires additional documentation.
- Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within one year of start (agency requirement).
- COVID vaccination or declination required for tracking.
Orientation and Facility Specifics
- EPIC electronic charting system used.
- Scrubs provided for OR personnel; any color allowed.
- Parking available at daily cost.
- Candidates must complete facility-specific training including:
- EPIC/Alaris integration video and attestation.
- Umbilical Cord Blood Collection Training (mandatory for L&D RNs).
- Photo for badge required (DMV style, no selfies).
- Suicide prevention training and demographic attestation required for multi-state licensed nurses working in Washington.
- Performance evaluation requested at assignment end (Montlake location).
Scheduling and Hours
- Guaranteed hours subject to census; may be called off without charge or placed on-call in 4-hour increments up to one shift in a 2-week cycle.
- No call requirement.

- This is a Magnet and Teaching hospital with 637 staffed beds.
- High-risk perinatal care environment with advanced NICU services.
- Floating within the hospital unit is expected.
