Registered Nurse - NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit)

Location: Chicago, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Schedule

  • Day shifts: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
  • 3 shifts per week (36 hours total)
  • Rotating every other weekend
  • Holidays as assigned
  • Start ASAP

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience within the last year
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Background Checks

  • Criminal background check within 6 months of start (7-year search including all alias, county, and national sex offender searches)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks must be run within 30 days of start and updated monthly

Competencies and Exams

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
  • Color Blind Testing (14 plate Ishihara exam) required for all candidates
  • Unit-specific competency exam required within 3 years and updated every 3 years
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required for ICU, PACU, Pediatrics, and Telemetry RNs
  • Core Parts I, II, and III training required annually
  • OSHA mandatory training required annually

Facility-Specific Requirements

  • Badge photo (selfie or front-facing headshot with plain white background) required 2 weeks prior to start
  • Signed fingernail policy prior to start
  • Completion of compliance checklists and online training modules prior to orientation
  • Flu exemption forms must be submitted by specified deadlines if applicable
