Job Opportunity: Outpatient Clinic Hematology Oncology Nurse

Job Summary

• Work in a fast-paced Medical Hematology/Oncology outpatient clinic.
• Responsibilities include triaging patient phone calls, responding to patient portal messages, entering physician orders (labs, diagnostics), following up on treatment plans and genetic testing.
• Coordinate diagnostics and patient care closely with Infusion and Radiation teams and physicians.
• Provide patient education related to chemotherapy.
• Track and manage patients receiving INR monitoring and iron infusions.
• Support Advanced Practice Providers (APPs).

Schedule

• Day shift, Monday through Friday
• 5 days per week, 8-hour shifts (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM)

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin
• Minimum 3 years of Hematology/Oncology nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification

Certifications & Competencies

• BLS (Basic Life Support) – ARC or AHA accepted.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) recommended but not required for this role.
• Other certifications (PALS, NRP, NIH Stroke Certification) may be required depending on specialty but not specified as mandatory here.
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exams as applicable.

Background & Screening Requirements

• 7-year background check required within 1 year of start, updated annually.
• State-specific caregiver screening for Wisconsin required.
• 2 professional references verified within 2 years of start.

Health & Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start.
• Negative QGold TB test within 1 year (TSpot/PPD not accepted).
• Immunization or positive titer proof required for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
• Negative 10-panel drug screen with expanded opiates within 14 days before start (instant tests not accepted). Positive marijuana test is not disqualifying.
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (October to March).

Additional Requirements

• Photo for badge (passport-style, no filters).
• Completion of confidentiality statement prior to start.
• Compliance checklist to be completed by agency representative.
• Annual skills checklist required.

Notes

• Prior travel experience is not required.
• This role involves direct patient care in an outpatient oncology setting with coordination across multiple teams.
• Candidates must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
