Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: New Orleans, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 18:45 - 7:15)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Overview

  • May be assigned to an Emergency Team during events, requiring staying at the facility until the event passes or serving as part of a relief team.
  • Unit accepts first-time travelers.
  • Patient ratio experience expected: 1:5 or 1:6.
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system required.
  • LTAC experience is not required.
  • Block scheduling may be considered.
  • Special procedures include: TPN, wound care, drain care, Foley catheter care, and narcotic administration.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana.
  • Minimum of one year of Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
  • Long Term Acute Care (LTAC) experience.

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months prior to start, indicating good physical health.
  • Fit mask testing (N95 or equivalent) within one year of start; onsite fit testing available if needed.
  • Negative TB test (PPD, Qgold, or Tspot) within 12 months; if positive, additional documentation required.
  • Immunity or vaccination documentation for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
  • Tdap vaccination required for certain units (ED, Pediatrics, Mother/Baby, NICU).
  • Seasonal flu vaccination, medical exemption, or religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31).

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must be comfortable with emergency event assignments as directed by unit management.
  • Prior travel experience is not required.
  • Must be able to perform special nursing procedures listed.
  • Background and health documentation must be current and compliant with facility requirements.
  • Photo for badge must be a recent, full-color, passport-style photo without obstructions or filters, uploaded within 24 hours of booking.

This position offers a night shift schedule with a 36-hour workweek over three 12-hour shifts, suitable for RNs comfortable with acute care nursing and emergency preparedness.
