Overview

Travel/Contract role in Towson, Maryland
13-week contract
36 hours per week, 3x12 rotating day/night shifts
Primary shift is days with rotating nights based on department staffing needs
Every other weekend required
Holidays required as scheduled
On-call not required
Floating may include IMC, CSU, and lower-acuity specialty areas as needed

Required Qualifications

Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Valid RN license in Maryland
ICU - Intensive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience within the last year
ACLS issued by American Heart Association
BLS issued by American Heart Association
NIHSS
CPI

Patient Population

Adolescent patients ages 15-17 when adult-like
Adult
Geriatric

Clinical Focus

MICU
SICU surgical abdominal
Neuro cervical spines
Post-op patients
Cardiac medical patients
MI
Chest pain
Pneumonia
Ventilator patients
Sepsis
ARDS
Cardiogenic shock
Overdose
Post-cath
No traumas

Unit Details

Uses pressors and sedation medications
Equipment includes vents, CRRT Next Stage, IABP, and proning therapy
CRRT Next Stage experience is preferred
Proning experience is preferred

Pros

The charge nurses and patient population is friendly.

Cons

They will short staff you every day. I got attitude multiple times when trying to take lunch 9 hours into my shift because ‘we don’t really do that here.’ Incredibly frustrating staffing levels, especially on the oncology floor.
