Overview

Travel/contract RN position in Overland Park, Kansas
Night shift: 3x12 hours, 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
36 hours per week
Contract length: 13 weeks
First-time travelers accepted

Clinical setting

Float pool role with regular floating between Med/Surg Intermediate, PCU, and related units
Patient population includes cardiac, stroke, respiratory, infectious disease, seizure, and withdrawal cases
Typical ratio: 1:6

Required qualifications

Valid RN license in Kansas
PCU - Progressive Care Unit (1 year of experience)
PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
BLS issued by American Heart Association
NIHSS
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Telemetry experience
Government-issued ID
Education verification related to nursing
NURSYS verification
Unit-specific competency exam
Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam
Medication test/pharmacology competency exam
Color blind testing
Employment application
Skills checklist within 1 year of start
Two professional references

Schedule and assignment expectations

8 weekend shifts in each 6-week schedule period
Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments as needed
No on-call
No block scheduling
No local candidates; home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility
No pending license accepted
No more than 7 days of requested time off

Skills and experience focus

Telemetry and cardiac monitoring
Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
Rapid response support
Post-MI and pre/post cardiac cath care
IV insulin protocols
Feeding tube care
Hemodialysis-related care
Central line, PICC, port, and peripheral IV management
Heparin protocols and cardiac drips
Respiratory support including CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, oxygen therapy, and tracheostomy management
Isolation precautions and wound care/wound vac
