Job Opportunity: Physical Therapist (Travel/Contract)

Location: Potomac, District of Columbia

Job Description

  • Position requires 2 years of experience in Physical Therapy, specifically in home health care.
  • Full-time, 40 hours per week, 8-hour days.
  • Ratio: 1:1 patient care.
  • First-time travelers accepted if they have 2 years of homecare experience and recent knowledge of Homecare Homebase/OASIS.
  • Charting system used: Homecare Homebase.

Required Certifications and Licenses

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - Must be AHA or ARC certified.
  • Maryland state license required prior to start.
  • Other certifications may be required based on unit description (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP) but not specifically for this role.

Experience and Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of homecare experience.
  • Familiarity with Homecare Homebase and OASIS documentation systems.

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • Criminal background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years.
  • E-Verify and I9 documentation required upon hire.
  • Education verification for highest degree as required by the position.
  • Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana), updated annually.
  • Employment application with 7 years of work history, no gaps.
  • Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience in the last 3 years.
  • Skills checklist required prior to start and updated annually.

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Annual physical exam confirming ability to perform work without accommodations and free from communicable disease.
  • Negative TB test (IGRA or PPD) within 1 year, updated annually; if history of positive TB, chest x-ray or annual questionnaire required.
  • Documentation of immunity or vaccination for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or signed declination)
  • Tdap vaccine within last 10 years preferred.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season.
  • COVID-19 vaccination strongly recommended; declination requires mask-wearing during patient encounters.
  • N95 fit test within 9 months of start, updated annually (client may complete on-site if needed).

Additional Requirements

  • Valid driver's license required if driving is an essential job function.
  • Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start date.
  • Photo for badge with specific guidelines (clear, centered, no glare, solid background).
  • Annual acknowledgment of orientation safety manual.

Competency Exams

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required within 3 years of start, passing score 80% or higher.
  • Competency exam required within 3 years of start, passing score 80% or higher.
  • Color blindness testing (online or in-person) required.
