Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Job Requirements

• Minimum 2 years recent experience in specialty required
• EPIC documentation experience required
• BLS certification required
• Nurse to patient ratio: 1:5-6
• Skills and protocols include:

  • O2 protocol management
  • Non-invasive airway management
  • Peripheral line care/management
  • Isolation precautions and PPE use
  • Computerized documentation
  • Rapid response team activation

Note: No first-time travelers accepted.

Candidate Restrictions

• Local travelers residing in the following counties are not eligible: Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, and Morris.

• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)

• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB)
• NIH Stroke Certification (annual expiration)
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)

Required Verifications and Background Checks

• 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
• EPLS/GSA/SAM check upon hire
• HHS/OIG check upon hire
• Education verification (highest level of education)
• Fingerprinting (for New Mexico placements only)
• Work history verification for 7 years
• Employment application and skills checklist (unit specific, annual)

Competency Requirements

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (minimum 80% or meet Angoff score)
• Color Blind Testing (online acceptable)
• Competency Exam (minimum 80% or meet Angoff score)
• Core Parts I, II, III (for subcontractors, annual completion required)

Health and Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 12 months of start
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually
• Adult Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years
• Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGOLD, or TSPOT) within 1 year
• TB questionnaire within 90 days of start (if positive TB test)
• Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required
• Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination accepted
• Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented history required
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
• COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required (no declinations accepted)

Additional Notes

• Clear headshot photo required for badge
• Orientation safety manual acknowledgement and HIPAA compliance required
• Primary source license verification and NURSYS verification required
• Documentation must be current and meet facility standards

This position requires a well-qualified, experienced RN with specific certifications and compliance with health and background screening protocols.
