Registered Nurse (Clinical Resource Unit) - Night Shift
Location: Normal, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Shift: Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours (12-hour shifts)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Provide specialized nursing care across multiple inpatient units including Medical-Oncology, Surgical-Orthopedic, Cardiovascular Care, Progressive Care, Mental Health, and Acute Rehab.
- Care for patients with diagnoses such as coronary artery disease, myocardial infarction, dysrhythmia, congestive heart failure, strokes, cancer, cellulitis, post-surgical care, and chest pain.
- Work in a fast-paced, evolving environment utilizing current technology and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments, develop and modify individualized care plans based on patient and family needs.
- Administer medications and evaluate their effects, prepare patients for procedures, and provide post-operative care.
- Perform IV venipuncture and blood administration.
- Document all nursing care accurately using electronic medical records (EMR).
- Float to various inpatient units as needed to provide direct patient care.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate and deliver high-quality patient care.
- Manage care for acute and chronically ill cardiac and pulmonary patients.
- Provide patient and family education, including discharge instructions.
- Delegate patient care tasks to healthcare team members and validate task completion.
- Maintain patient safety by adhering to fall precautions, pressure ulcer prevention, isolation precautions, and ambulation safety standards.
- Conduct bedside shift reports, hourly rounding, and maintain updated patient communication boards.
- Handle conflict management and maintain professional communication within the team.
- Respond promptly to patient call lights and requests.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Minimum of 1 year of float experience, including float experience within the last year.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Experience in cardiac care.
- Experience in pulmonary care.
