Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Intensive Care Unit, Cardiothoracic

Job Summary

Provide competent clinical nursing care in an intensive care unit specializing in cardiothoracic patients. Responsibilities include coordinating and delivering patient care using the nursing process in a hospital setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver care to patients with complex cardiothoracic conditions, addressing physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs.
• Perform bedside point of care testing as required.
• Organize and prioritize patient care based on individual and family needs.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to evaluate and revise patient care plans.
• Assess patient and family readiness to learn and provide appropriate education materials.
• Anticipate and plan for discharge needs, supporting patient and family advocacy.
• Participate in unit goals, performance improvement, and promote cost-effective care.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and secure environment.
• Stay informed about public policy and regulatory guidelines affecting healthcare.
• Engage in professional development and intra/interdepartmental collaboration.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina.
• Minimum 1 year of Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) experience within the last year.
• Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited nursing school.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).

Preferred Qualifications

• BSN or MSN from an accredited nursing school.
