Radiologic Technologist (Radiographer) - Southfield, Michigan

Job Summary

Under the direction of a Radiologist, performs radiologic procedures to evaluate pathological conditions as ordered by a physician. Utilizes independent judgment to determine appropriate radiographic techniques, positioning, and safety practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Explain examination procedures to patients and prepare them for exams.
• Review clinical data and obtain additional patient medical history as needed.
• Prepare procedure rooms and replenish supplies such as linens.
• Analyze patient anatomy, set up equipment, and perform radiologic procedures manually to obtain diagnostic images.
• May select and administer intravenous contrast media; monitor patients for reactions and provide immediate care if needed.
• Perform imaging procedures following radiation protection principles (shielding, dose reduction, ALARA techniques).
• Prepare and set up sterile equipment and supplies; follow infection control practices.
• Ensure patient safety, privacy, confidentiality, comfort, and legal/ethical rights.
• Complete all necessary documentation, including worksheets, logs, patient records, and radiology information system (RIS) entries.
• Teach and educate new hires and students as needed.
• Resolve image exceptions and ensure high-quality image delivery into PACS.
• Confirm clinical protocols with Radiologists before performing studies.
• Demonstrate team standards including effective communication, positive attitude, innovation, and respect for diversity.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

• Work primarily in a hospital setting, including fixed units and mobile units in IPD/OR/ER.
• Potential exposure to radiation, high-voltage equipment, and contagious patients.
• Occasionally lift or move equipment and/or patients exceeding 10 lbs.

Contract Length

• Approximately 13 weeks (91 days converted to weeks).
