Registered Nurse – Neuro ICU

Location: Wausau, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

Unit and Patient Population

• 8-bed Neuro ICU unit with patients including Stroke, Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Head Injury, and Neurosurgery cases
• Float between Neuro Critical Care ICU and MSICU units; possible float to other critical care and inpatient units as needed
• Primary procedures: Neuro assessments, basic bedside ICU procedures (line placement, intubation), bolt and drain bedside placements with Neurosurgery
• Experience with Neuro Interventional patients, External Ventricular Drains (EVDs), and Intracranial Pressure (ICP) monitoring is needed

Required Qualifications

• Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) License
• BLS and ACLS certification (AHA or ARC)
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience with strong Neuro ICU and/or Med/Surg ICU background
• Prior travel assignment preferred (at least 1 travel assignment)
• EPIC charting experience required

Additional Information

• Radius Rule: Must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Weekend/Holiday Requirement: Every other weekend and every other holiday
• No on-call or call-back requirements
• Low census hours available in increments (4 or 8 hours), not considered on-call
• Must be resilient, able to manage change, work independently, and complete tasks timely
• Scrub color is flexible (any color allowed)
• Flu and COVID vaccination policy: During flu season, travelers who decline vaccination must wear a mask at all times; compliance is mandatory with no exceptions

This position is ideal for a Neuro ICU nurse with solid critical care skills, prior travel experience, and the ability to adapt to multiple ICU settings.
