Registered Nurse – Emergency Room

Location: Wausau, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

Start Date: ASAP
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
Shift: 12-hour variable shifts, primarily:
- 05:00–17:00
- 09:00–21:00
- 10:00–22:00
- 11:00–23:00
- Occasional flexibility to 14:00–02:00 and 17:00–05:00
- PM shifts may start at 11:00 or 14:00
Weekend/Holiday: Every other weekend and every other holiday required
Float Requirements: May need to float to nearby locations within a 50-mile radius
On Call/Call Back:
- 12 hours on call in a 6-week period
- Response time: 30 minutes
- Minimum 2 hours call back pay if called in
Low Census: Eligible for 36 hours of unbillable low census hours; may be placed on call during these hours

Unit Information

Trauma Level II, 18-bed Emergency Department
Stroke certified unit
Patient population includes cardiac, neuro, pediatrics, geriatrics, respiratory cases
Fast-paced environment with a nurse-to-patient ratio of approximately 1:3-4
Charting system: EPIC required
Medication dispensing: Pyxis
RNs responsible for drawing labs and administering nebulizer treatments
Respiratory therapists and X-ray staff available on site

Required Qualifications

Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) License
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, TNCC, PALS (ARC or AHA)
Minimum 5 years of nursing experience in Emergency Room
At least 1 year of prior travel nursing experience required (firm)
Experience in Trauma Level II setting required
Proficient in EPIC electronic charting system

Additional Information

Must be resilient, able to manage change well, work independently, and complete tasks timely
Scrub color is flexible (any color allowed)
During flu season, compliance with mandatory flu and COVID vaccination policy is required; unvaccinated travelers must wear a mask at all times
Orientation week hours may vary; guaranteed hours apply except when unit is closed for holidays
