Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Cardiac Progressive Care/Telemetry

Location: Wausau, Wisconsin

Job Details

• Unit: 44 Bed Intermediate Cardiac Stepdown (Cardiac Telemetry/Step Down)
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts (1900-0730)
• Hours: Guaranteed 36 hours per week
• Weekend/Holiday: Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Float: Must float to all inpatient units as needed
• On Call/Call Back: May be placed on call during low census; minimum 2-hour call back pay if called in
• Patient Ratio: Typically 1:4
• Work Environment: Fast paced, high patient turnover
• Typical Patient Cases: Post-op CABG/Valve, thoracotomy, vascular, arrhythmia, CHF, post-procedure cath, pacer, defib, ablations, acute CP/MI, med/surg overflow (detox, DKA, COPD exacerbation, respiratory failure, fem-pop bypass)

Requirements

• Licenses/Certifications:

  • Wisconsin RN License
  • BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Must pass EKG test within first week of hire

• Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years in IMC/PCU/Telemetry
  • Minimum 1 year strong cardiac experience (Cardiac SDU/Intermediate Cardiac/Cardiac ICU)
  • Experience with Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Nitro drips required
  • At least 1 prior travel assignment completed (prior travel experience required)
  • 1 year recent EPIC charting experience required

• Other:

  • Must be able to manage independently, work resiliently, and adapt to change
  • Scrub color is flexible (any color allowed)
  • Compliance with flu and COVID vaccination policy or mask-wearing required during flu season

Additional Notes

• Contractors must be outside a 50-mile radius of the facility (radius rule expired)
• Low census hours (up to 36 hours) are unbillable but call back pay applies if called in
• Orientation week hours may vary; guaranteed hours apply except during holidays when unit is closed

This position is ideal for experienced cardiac telemetry nurses who have prior travel experience and are comfortable working night shifts in a fast-paced cardiac stepdown unit.
