MS/Tele Onc RN

Overview

• Travel contract for an experienced MS/Tele Onc RN
• Location: Tacoma, Washington
• Facility unit: MedSurg Oncology
• 28 beds
• Patient mix: oncology and general med surg; hospice inpatient program also housed on the unit
• Full telemetry with central monitoring; RNs read strips
• Ratios: 1:4-5
• Shift: Days, 07:00-19:30
• Hours: 36 per week
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend
• Holiday requirement: rotates with permanent staff
• Call/standby: no
• Floating: within Med Surg/Tele service line; may also float throughout Region Two if needed

Required Qualifications

• Active BLS
• WA license
• 2 full years of experience
• Oncology experience
• Must be able to read telemetry strips
• Must pass a dysrhythmia exam during onboarding
• Experience with central lines and ports, including accessing and changing sterile dressings

Preferred Qualifications

• Chemo certification through an ONS provider card

Additional Details

• May titrate heparin and Cardizem drips, and may see other cardiac drips
• RT manages CPAP and BiPap; nurses perform nebulizers, breathing treatments, and trach suctioning
• Charge nurse is present on each shift and typically does not take patients
• Scrubs: any professional-looking scrubs; no t-shirts; closed-toe shoes
• Orientation includes Epic class on the first shift and 1-2 days with a preceptor, up to 2 days maximum
• Pending license needed to submit; temporary license takes approximately 4 weeks
