ICU Registered Nurse Travel Opportunity

Location: Arroyo Grande, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Unit: ICU (8 beds)
• Shift: Nights (7 PM – 7 AM)
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Hours per Week: 36
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:1 to 1:2
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Coverage: Rotated with permanent staff
• Charge Nurse: Yes on day shifts (no patient assignment), night shift has shift leader
• Floating: Yes, to telemetry, ICU at another location, or ER (with orientation and patient assignment)
• Orientation: 1 shift floor-specific orientation; 15-minute proctored EKG competency exam during orientation
• Common Patient Diagnoses: Sepsis, general medical ICU cases, respiratory failure, congestive heart failure (CHF), alcohol withdrawal
• Equipment/Technology:

  • EMR: Cerner
  • Tele/Monitor Techs: Phillips monitors; nurses must read and interpret strips
  • Drips and ventilators used regularly
• Support Services:

  • Respiratory Therapy: 24/7 coverage
  • Pharmacy: On-call after hours (8-hour shifts)
  • IV Team: Not available
  • Hospitalist/Intensivist: On-call after hours

Required Qualifications

• Active California RN license
• Minimum 2 years ICU nursing experience (highest required years of experience)
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS
• Basic EKG competency required (assessed during orientation)
• Prior travel experience preferred (not required)

Additional Information

• Scrub Color: Navy
• Nurses do not have nurse aides; nurses perform all patient care tasks
• Travel contract position with pre-screening and second interview by managers
