Schedule

• Nights
• 12-hour shifts
• Every other weekend required
• Holidays are usually covered, but days before and after holidays will be required
• No call or standby requirement
• Self-scheduling is allowed, with travelers filling open holes and working every other weekend

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Texas
• CCU - Coronary Care experience within the last year
• 2 years of CCU - Coronary Care experience
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• ACLS
• BLS
• NIHSS
• Experience with Epic

Preferred

• Experience with a busy, large Level 1 Trauma setting

Unit Details

• 18 beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2, occasionally 1:1
• Common patient types include heart failure, STEMI, pulmonary emboli, arrhythmias, and MICU overflow
• Charge nurse is present each shift; goal is free charge, but this is not often achieved
• Patient care assistant support is minimal, with one for all 18 beds if available
• RT is in the ICU 24/7
• CCU is not a closed unit yet; MICU patients are managed in an intensivist model, and the CCU fellow is available 24/7
• First to float to similar units
• Teal tops and bottoms, with solid or coordinating non-terrycloth jackets
• Two 12-hour shifts of unit/department-specific orientation
