Overview
- Role: PCU RN
- Location: Lincoln, Nebraska
- Facility: 24-bed PCU
- Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts
- Hours: 36 per week
- Contract length: 13 weeks
Required Qualifications
- RN license
- ACLS
- BLS
- NIHSS
- Must be competent in caring for stroke patients
- Must be teamwork oriented
- Driver’s license required at submittal
- Must be able to arrive at the hospital within 1 hour when called in
Unit Details
- 24 beds
- Ratios: 1:4-5
- Uses virtual nursing on day and night shifts
- Common diagnoses/patient types: CHF, PNA, Sepsis, Stroke/TIA, COPD, PE, AKI
- Tele is on the unit
- Monitor tech monitors from the ICU
- RNs read strips
- Nurse aids are on the unit, ratio 1:8 when full
- RT equipment includes high flow, BiPap, and O2 titration
- Common titratable/set-rate drips: Amiodarone, Cardizem, Heparin, Nicardipine, Dobutamine
Schedule and Logistics
- One extra shift per 6-week period
- Self-scheduling
- Every 3rd weekend
- Holidays are divided by weekend rotation
- First to float
- 3 shifts of orientation on assigned shift
Policies
- Artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas
- Refusal to remove artificial nails will lead to termination of the contract
- Candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity
- Radius rule: 50 miles
