Med/Tele/Swing RN Opportunity

Location: Valley City, North Dakota
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

• Department: Med-Tele Acute/Obs and Swingbed
• Number of Beds: 19
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: 1:3-6
• Common Patient Diagnoses: Pneumonia, rehab, COPD, CHF, pancreatitis, GI bleed
• Patient Care Techs: 1 CNA per shift (responsible for personal care, vitals, weights)
• Respiratory Therapy Equipment: Vents, CPAP, BiPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
• Telemetry Monitors: Mindray
• Charge Nurse: No charge nurse on each shift

Required Certifications & Skills

• Certifications: BLS, ACLS (required)
• Experience: Minimum 1 year required
• Skills: IV starts, telemetry, NG tube, Foley catheter insertion
• RN Responsibilities:

  • Set up and competently manage BiPAP, CPAP, HFNC
  • Read telemetry strips independently
  • No requirement to titrate drips
• Previous travel experience: Not required

Scheduling & Work Environment

• Shifts: 7a-7p, 7p-7a (12-hour shifts)
• Scheduling: Team scheduling with possible self-scheduling or block scheduling
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
• Call/Standby: None
• Floating: Required to float to Med/Tele Acute/Obs/Swingbed units
• Orientation: Typically 3-4 shifts (12 hours each) of unit-specific orientation
• Dress Code: Own scrubs required, any color accepted

• RNs on this floor may be part of the code team
• Positive culture with strong teamwork
• Successful nurses are dependable, caring, knowledgeable, and flexible
• Radius rule: Must live within 50 miles and cannot be currently employed part-time, full-time, or PRN with any related facility system
• Return to Office (RTO) required within 7 days of contract start; no additional RTO approvals

This position is ideal for RNs with Med/Tele experience looking for a supportive team environment and a variety of patient care responsibilities without clinical involvement in drip titration.
