Registered Nurse (ER) - Oregon, Klamath Falls
Job Details
- Specialty: Emergency Room (ER)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Day, Evening, Night rotation in 4-week blocks (Day, Evening, Night shifts scheduled; must be willing to work any or all shifts)
- Hours: 12-hour shifts, approximately 72 hours per week
- Orientation: Minimum 2 days unit-specific orientation before rotation start
- Schedule: Alternate work week schedule (48 hours one week / 24 hours the next)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: At least one holiday off (includes major holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, Independence Day, New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day)
- Call/Standby: None
- Floating: Not required
- Dress Code: Any scrubs, no uniforms
Work Environment
- Separate triage area with 2 rooms
- Separate psych hold rooms (2) and overflow psych area, all separate from main ED
- In-house security present
- Dedicated charge nurse and house supervisor
- Support staff includes ED techs and patient sitters
- EMR system: EPIC; Pyxis medication system
- Respiratory therapy equipment available (vents, CPAP, BiPAP, high flow); RT performs ABGs, breathing treatments, and emergency gas studies
- Continuous telemetry monitoring with Spacelabs monitors in every room; 24/7 monitor tech coverage
- On-site X-Ray and CT with transport available
- Phlebotomy performed by both nurses and dedicated phlebotomists
Patient Population & Common Diagnoses
- Cardiac patients (CP), COPD, Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA), Trauma, Stroke
- Mental health cases, alcohol intoxication (ETOH), overdoses
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Oregon
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one prior travel assignment
- ACLS certification
- BLS certification
- ENPC or PALS certification
- TNCC certification
- Knowledge of NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience with mental health patients
- Experience with alcohol intoxication (ETOH) cases
- Experience with overdose cases
Additional Notes
- Housing may be challenging; candidates should research local housing options prior to assignment
- No new travelers accepted; only those with prior travel assignments considered
- Must confirm acceptance of scheduling terms before start
