Registered Nurse (LTC/SNF)

Location: Canistota, South Dakota
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Specialty: Long-Term Care / Skilled Nursing Facility (LTC/SNF) RN
• Shift: Days, 6:00 AM – 6:30 PM
• Shift Length: 12-hour shifts
• Weekend Coverage: Every 3rd weekend
• Holiday Coverage: Every other holiday (if it falls within your block schedule)
• Weekly Hours: 36 hours guaranteed per week
• Overtime: Available
• Work Week: Sunday through Saturday
• Patient Population: Elderly patients including those with dementia and behavioral health diagnoses such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and paranoia (behavioral program present)
• Staffing Ratio:

  • Med aide support from 6 AM to 10 AM
  • One nurse from 10 AM to 6 PM
  • Approximate nurse-to-patient ratio: Day shift ~1:23, Overnight ~1:45
• EMR System: PCC
• Orientation: Includes training, tour, competencies, and opportunity to shadow 1-2 shifts

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license valid in South Dakota
• BLS Certification
• Preferred experience in geriatric psychiatry or long-term care psychiatry

Additional Information

• This position covers a maternity leave
• Local placements within an 80-mile radius
• No on-call or call-back required
• A fee applies if the clinician cancels or quits with less than 14 days' notice

Notes for Candidates

• This role involves working primarily with an elderly population in a long-term care psychiatric setting.
• Behavioral health experience, especially with geriatric psych patients, is preferred.
• The schedule includes 12-hour day shifts with every 3rd weekend and every other holiday rotation.
• Orientation and support are provided to ensure smooth onboarding.
