Patient Population / Common Diagnoses

• Cardiac patients
• Post catheterization/pacemaker
• Pneumonia (PNA)
• COVID-19
• Alcohol-related conditions (ETOH)
• ICU downgrades
• No open heart cases

Required Skills and Experience

• Telemetry experience
• Basic rhythm interpretation (ideal but not required)
• Cardiac drip titrations (no pressors or sedation)
• Insulin drip titration required

Common Drips Managed

• Insulin
• Heparin
• Cardizem
• Nitro
• Amiodarone
• Dopamine
• Dobutamine

Staffing and Support

• Charge nurse present in the department, may take patients at a lower ratio when able
• Hospital supervisor available 24/7
• Nurse aides on unit (ratio approximately 8-9 patients per aide)
• Remote telemetry support via central monitoring unit
• Monitor techs available to assist

Shift Details

• 12-hour shifts

  • Day: 05:45 - 18:15
  • Night: 17:30 - 06:15
• Weekend requirement: typically every other weekend (varies based on needs)
• Holiday requirement: yes
• No call or standby requirement
• Floating not required but may be requested if skill set allows and RN agrees

Orientation

• Unit-specific orientation required (1-2 shifts depending on experience and prior familiarity with the facility)
• Night shift orientation includes working a 24/48 hour schedule

Dress Code

• Clean and professional attire; no specific scrub color required
