Job Opportunity: MS/Tele Float Pool Nurse – Denver/Zone 3 (Colorado)

Location

  • City: Centennial, CO
  • Zone: Zone 3 (60-mile radius around Denver, CO)

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Unit/Department

  • MS-Tele Float Pool covering multiple units including:
    • General MS-Telemetry
    • Cardiac
    • Neuro
    • Oncology
    • Rehab
    • Renal
    • Bariatrics
    • Orthopedics
    • Trauma
    • Emergency Department Observation

Patient Population

  • Adults to Geriatrics
  • Common diagnoses include:
    • Cardiac
    • Neurological
    • Orthopedic
    • Oncology
    • Renal and Urology post-surgical
    • General Surgery post-appendectomy
    • Gynecology
    • Psychiatry/Detox
    • ENT
    • General Medicine
    • Stable long-term placement patients

Experience & Skills Required

  • Minimum 2 years of MS-Telemetry nursing experience (highest required)
  • Prior neuro experience preferred
  • Ability to titrate Heparin drips

Certifications Required

  • BLS (AHA)
  • ACLS (AHA)
  • NIHSS

Staffing & Ratios

  • Nurse to patient ratio: 1:5-6 depending on acuity
  • Charge nurse assigned on each unit; typically does not take patient assignments unless necessary
  • Nurse aides available on units
  • Respiratory therapy equipment present (vents, CPAP, BiPAP, etc.)

Scheduling & Shifts

  • Shift: 7am to 7pm
  • Schedule created by leadership for 6 weeks at a time
  • Travelers expected to be flexible and fill gaps in permanent scheduling
  • Time off requests must be submitted prior to assignment start
  • Weekend requirement: 6-9 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
  • Holiday rotation participation may be required
  • Call/standby is rare and only for low census situations

Orientation

  • 1-2 days unit/department specific orientation with a preceptor
  • Week of orientation must be completed in-state (some modules may be remote)

Float Policy

  • No home base facility; must float throughout the entire 60-mile zone
  • Float assignments may include any unit within Zone 3, including:
    • OrthoColorado Hospital
    • Longmont United Hospital
    • St. Anthony Hospital
    • St. Anthony North Hospital
  • Floating includes various acuity levels such as ICU (low acuity holds), PCU/Stepdown, and MS-Tele

Dress Code

  • Scrubs of any color allowed

Additional Notes

  • Must secure housing that allows floating within the 60-mile zone
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this role
