Job Details
- Specialty: Respiratory Therapy
- Location: Phoenix, Arizona
- Contract Length: 13 weeks (minimum contract length)
- Facility Type: Level 1 Trauma, Teaching Hospital, 607 beds, nationally recognized tertiary care center
- Unit: Adult ICU with some NICU preferred experience
- Shift: 12-hour shifts (6am-6:30pm or 6pm-6:30am), 3 days per week
- Weekend/Holiday: Every other weekend or 4 weekend shifts per month; holiday rotation required
- Orientation: 2 days on regular floor with skills validation
- EMR: Cerner experience required
Experience & Certification Requirements
- Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years of strong ICU experience in Respiratory Therapy (higher requirement applies)
- Licenses/Certifications:
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) via NBRC (required)
- Arizona RT license (must have in hand)
- BLS certification (required)
- NRP required if working with NICU patients
- ACLS preferred
- Clinical Skills:
- Must be proficient with at least one ventilator: Servo I, Jets, Oscillators
- Must be able to assist with bronchoscopies
- Responsible for all ABGs
- Run all vents, BiPAP V60, and CPAP
- Additional Requirements:
- Level 1 Trauma and teaching experience required
- Prior travel experience required for ED and Neuro ICU roles (implied for this facility)
- Prophecy Dysrhythmia Exam required 24-48 hours prior to acceptance for certain units (ICU, ER, Cath Lab, etc.)
- Must be a team player with strong time management and communication skills
- Must have own vehicle for travel teams
Work Environment & Policies
- No facial piercings and only natural hair colors allowed
- Black scrubs required
- Assigned parking with shuttle to facility; night shift parking in garage
- No floating to outpatient areas; assigned to specific area per day
- Lead respiratory therapist on duty every shift
- High acuity environment with nursing students present (teaching hospital)
- Pharmacy coverage 24/7
- Candidates cannot work two contracts simultaneously within this system
- Must have been off CommonSpirit permanent staff for 12 months to qualify for travel assignment
