Job Opportunity: DMCC - Acute Rehab Unit Nurse
Location: Peoria, Illinois
Unit Details
- Unit: DMCC - Acute Rehab Unit
- Beds: 29
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratios:
- Day: 5:1
- Night: 6:1
- Common Patient Diagnoses: Neuro, Neurosurgery, Amputations, Multi-trauma, Cardiac, Complex medical (trachs, no vents)
- Required Certifications: BLS (AHA)
- Specialty Skills: Strong Neuro skills required
- RN Responsibilities:
- No titration of drips except heparin
- Use tele packs for monitoring, but RN does not monitor tele strips
- Required to attend team conferences for acute inpatient rehab
- Support Staff:
- Nurse Aides with a ratio of 1:9 or 1:10
- PT/OT/SLP available
- Respiratory Therapy equipment includes CPAP/BiPAP at night for sleep apnea, nasal cannula, and high flow cannula (no heated high flow)
Scheduling & Work Requirements
- Shifts:
- Day: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
- Night: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday rotation
- Call or Standby: None required
- Floating: Yes, float to LTAC and med-surg units; no floating to HAU unless trained
- Dress Code: Any color scrubs allowed; no t-shirts unless approved
Orientation & Training
- Orientation:
- 2 days classroom orientation
- 2-3 shifts (days or nights) with a preceptor
- Training includes QRP and specific rehab documentation
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Additional Requirements
- Active Illinois nursing license or proof of application in process
- Negative drug screen required (drug-free campus)
- Local placements accepted within a 50-mile radius
Experience Requirements
- Specialty: Acute Rehab Unit nursing with strong neuro skills
- Years of Experience: Not explicitly stated; implied need for experienced neuro skills (recommend at least 1+ year in specialty)
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required
Certifications
- BLS (AHA) required
