Job Details

• Unit: 8-bed ICU with a horseshoe layout
• Patient Type: Primarily medical ICU diagnoses
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:1 to 1:2
• EMR System: Cerner
• Charge Nurse Role: Yes, generally does not take patients but provides break relief
• Nurse Aides: Available as census and staffing dictate
• Telemetry: Yes, must be able to read and interpret EKG strips
• Ventilator Experience: Required
• Hospitalist or Intensivist: On-site coverage
• Respiratory Therapist: Available 24/7
• Pharmacy: Available 24/7

Work Schedule

• 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday rotation with core staff
• Self-scheduling with manager final approval
• Schedules released 4 weeks in advance
• Overtime and extra shifts available
• Block scheduling generally not available

Floating Requirements

• First to float to sister facilities and MedSurg unit at Woodland
• Mid-shift float to other Sacramento facilities is rare but possible

Orientation

• 1 to 2 days floor-specific orientation with a preceptor

Additional Requirements & Notes

• Candidates must not have been employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any facility associated with CommonSpirit (including CHI and Dignity) within the past year; PRN employment through outside firms is acceptable
• Dyslexia exam through Relias required prior to acceptance (pass/fail with 2 attempts allowed)
• Scrub color: Navy (under shirts must be navy, white, or black; scrub jackets optional but must be navy)
• ICU adjacent to PACU
