Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel Position

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri

Position Details

  • Employment Type: Travel
  • Shift: Days, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (06:30 - 19:00)
  • Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
  • Number of Openings: 1

  • Call Requirements: As required by facility
  • Float Requirements: As required by facility

Licensure & Certifications

  • Required Licensure: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), licensed with Missouri Board for Respiratory Care
  • Required Certifications: BLS and ACLS (American Heart Association only)
  • Preferred Certifications: PALS

Experience Requirements

  • Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year in respiratory therapy
  • Must Have Skills/Experience:
    • Adult critical care
    • Experience in a high-volume, busy Emergency Department (ED) with trauma patients
  • Preferred Skills/Experience:
    • Blood gas draw and processing (GEM analyzer)
    • Blood gas interpretation

Unit & Patient Information

  • Unit Type: Respiratory department covering multiple areas including SICU, CCU, CVICU, ED, Neuro, and Trauma
  • Patient Types: Respiratory patients, trauma patients, neuro patients, and critical care patients
  • Number of Beds: Licensed for 767 beds
  • Patient Ratios: Based on a point system and dependent on staffing
  • Equipment Used:
    • Avea ventilators
    • LTV transport ventilators
    • V60 BiPAP
    • Bellavista ventilators (coming soon)
    • Vapotherm and Airvo for high flow oxygen therapy
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR): EPIC

Work Environment & Culture

  • Personality Fit: Strong, confident therapist with good time management skills, willing to assist coworkers as time allows
  • Dress Code: Black scrubs (Mercy standard)

Additional Information

  • Pediatric patients are stabilized in the ED and then transported to a sister hospital
  • Flu vaccination or approved exemption required for all travelers from November 1 to April 1 (declinations not accepted)
