Unit Information
- Unit: Maternal Infant Unit
- Beds: 24
- Staff: 71 total
- Shifts:
- Day Shift: labor nurse, nursery nurse, OB tech, secretary, leadership, educator
- Night Shift: labor nurse, nursery nurse, OB tech, secretary
- Patient Ratios:
- Labor: 1:1 (most of the time)
- Post-partum: 5-6:1
- Nursery: 5-6:1
- Equipment: GE fetal monitors
- EMR System: Meditech, CPN
Job Requirements
- Specialty: Labor & Delivery Nursing
- Years of Experience Required: Minimum 2 years of labor experience (preferred 2+ years in LDRP with high birth volumes)
- Certifications Required:
- BLS
- ACLS
- NRP
- AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Certification
- Licenses: Registered Nurse License
Typical Procedures
- Vaginal deliveries
- C-sections
- Antepartum patient care
- Newborn and post-partum care
Work Schedule & Dress Code
- Every third weekend required
- 12 hours of on-call per 4-week schedule
- Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs; MIU nurses wear pink badges for infant security
