Travel RN Opportunity - Critical Care Unit (CCU)

Unit Information

• Unit: Critical Care Unit (CCU)
• Number of Beds: 22
• Patient Ratios: 1:2-3
• Staffing: No unit secretaries or CNAs; direct patient care by nursing staff
• Equipment: Ventilators, Artic Sun, Rapid infusers, CRRT machines, IV med pumps, SCD machines, Cooling blankets, Glucometers
• Documentation System: Meditech
• Scheduling:

  • Days: 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
  • Nights: 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
• Floating Policy: Floats to all ICUs and Intermediate Care (IMC) units
• Dress Code: Navy scrubs
• Recognition: HCA Unit of Distinction

Required Qualifications

• Licenses: Registered Nurse License
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH Certification
• Experience: Minimum 2 years in ICU-level unit (Critical Care)
• Prior Travel Experience: Not specified / not required

Skills and Competencies

• Experience with:

  • Mechanical ventilation (vents), High-flow oxygen, BiPAP, CPAP
  • IV medications including Levophed, Epinephrine, Insulin, Neo-synephrine, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Propofol, Precedex, Fentanyl, Versed, Amiodarone, Lidocaine, Paralytics
• Advanced skills:

  • Targeted Temperature Management (TTM)
  • Hemodynamics monitoring
  • Pulmonary Artery (PA) catheter management
• Procedures performed on unit:

  • Intubation
  • Chest tube insertion
  • Bronchoscopy
  • EGD and Colonoscopy assistance
  • Wound debridement
  • Line insertion

• Floating to other ICU and IMC units provides variety in patient care.
