Unit Information

• Unit: Neuro Critical Care
• Number of Beds: 30
• Patient Ratios: 1:1, 1:2, 1:3
• Equipment: Alaris Pumps, Arctic Sun, Prismax, EV 1000, Neuroptics Pupillometer
• EMR System: Epic

Position Details

• Role: Registered Nurse (RN)
• Specialty: Neurosurgical and Neurological Intensive Care
• Number of Openings: Two 0.9 FTE positions (1.8 FTE total)
• Shift: Days
• Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
• Weekend Commitment: Every other weekend
• Call Requirements: None
• Float Requirements: Floating to other inpatient areas when home unit census is low

Required Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of experience in Neurosurgical and Neurological Intensive Care (Neuro ICU)
• Must have comprehensive assessment skills
• Experience caring for hemodynamically unstable patients
• Experience caring for mechanically ventilated patients
• Thorough neurological assessment skills

Preferred Experience

• Experience with Pupillometer
• Experience managing EVD (External Ventricular Drain) and ICP (Intracranial Pressure) waveform
• Experience with CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy)
• Experience with Epic EMR system

• Ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke
• Post-operative craniotomy
