Position Details

  • Specialty: Med Surg

  • Shift: Nights (19:00 - 07:30)
  • Assignment Length: 13 weeks
  • Weekly Hours: 36 or 48 (flexible, must be specified)
  • Weekend Hours: Every other weekend as required
  • Call Requirements: None

Licensure & Certifications

  • Required: Current RN license eligible or active in Missouri
  • Required Certification: BLS (AHA only)
  • Preferred Certification: ACLS (AHA only)

Experience

  • Minimum 1 year Med Surg inpatient experience

Unit Information

  • Beds: 15 active, 15 under construction
  • Patient Ratios:
    • Days: 1:5-6
    • Nights: 1:6-7 (not guaranteed, varies by circumstance)
  • Equipment: Nova Meters (blood glucose), Alaris IV pump, Kangaroo pumps, SCD machine
  • EMR System: EPIC

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation)
  • Coordinate patient care with ancillary departments
  • Maintain patient rights and confidentiality
  • Evaluate care effectiveness of other caregivers
  • Float to other units as needed based on staffing
  • Follow facility mission, values, and service standards

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Stand and walk most of the shift
  • Frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients (with assistance)
  • May work varying schedules/shifts based on patient needs
  • Exposure risk to blood and body fluids
  • Physical demands include pushing, pulling, gripping up to 50 lbs, pinching up to 15 lbs, minimal kneeling, crouching, crawling

Dress Code

  • Scrubs: Black only
  • No open-toed shoes or other unacceptable attire

Additional Notes

  • Flu vaccination required (no declinations accepted) from November 1 to April 1
  • Night shift orientation occurs on day shift; availability for full orientation week required
  • Flexible scheduling options available but must be indicated on submission
