13-week contract

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Kansas
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Med Surg (1 year of experience)
Med Surg experience within the last year
BLS
Understanding of post-operative care

Unit Details

Surgical specialty unit
20 private beds
High-paced unit
Patient ratio: 4:1 total patient care, or 5:1 with a patient care tech
Staffing typically includes 1 tech for 4–5 nurses
Floating may include medical/surgical/telemetry units, ortho neuro center, med/tele, 4N, and CDU

Clinical Skills and Procedures

Post-operative care
Ostomy management and irrigation
NGT placement and management
Foley catheter placement and maintenance
Central line management
JP drains
Wound management
IV starts
Blood administration
Nutritional supplementation, including TPN and G/J tubes

Scheduling

Every 3rd weekend
Two Mondays and two Fridays per 4-week scheduling period

Alaris IV pumps
CADD epidural
Alaris PCA
Pyxis medication dispensing machine
Telemetry
EKG
Bladder scanner
Wound vacs
Capnostream machines
SCD pumps
