Registered Nurse (Med Surg / Neuroscience) - Travel Assignment

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Overview

• Provide nursing care on a Neurosurgical unit focusing on patients with stroke, seizures, MS, back/head/spinal neurological diagnoses, and neurosurgery procedures.
• Utilize the nursing process to deliver patient care and maintain professional accountability.
• Coordinate patient care with other departments while maintaining patient rights and confidentiality.

Unit Information

• Department: Medical Surgical Unit (Neuro-surgical patients)
• Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 5-6 patients
• Shift: Night shift (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Weekly Hours: 36 or 48 hours (candidate’s choice)
• Weekend Hours: Rotating, with an expectation of every other full weekend (Saturday and Sunday)
• Call Requirements: None
• EMR System: EPIC
• Equipment: FIT test required on site
• Float: As needed within scope

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Missouri
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 1 year of Med Surg experience within the last year
• Experience in neurology nursing
• Experience in charge nurse roles
• Current BLS certification
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Work Expectations

• Up to 5 days of requested time off per 13-week contract can be automatically approved; additional time off requires leader approval and may need to be made up.
• Candidates should expect to work at least one major winter holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year’s Day).
• Team player with a patient-focused attitude is preferred.
