Registered Nurse - Oncology

Location: San Antonio, TX
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Weekly Hours: 36 hours

Unit and Work Details

Unit: Oncology
Shift Options: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Weekend Schedule: Rotating
Call Requirements: None
Floating: Required as needed per floating policy
Documentation System: Meditech

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Texas
Oncology experience with a minimum of 5 years, including experience within the last year
BLS certification
Chemotherapy certification
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Experience with mediports, PICCs, and central lines

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Meditech preferred

Procedures Performed on Unit

Chemotherapy administration
Central line, mediport access, and lab draws
Blood product transfusions
CHG baths including care of central lines and dressings

Dress Code and Appearance Guidelines

Scrub Color: Navy
Nails: Clean and healthy
Hair: Neat, clean, no extreme styles or colors
Facial Hair: Clean and neatly trimmed
Tattoos: Should be covered whenever possible; uncovered tattoos addressed individually
Piercings: Only ear piercings visible; all others prohibited

Additional Notes

All travelers must be prepared to float to other units as needed
Strict adherence to unit policies including attendance, central line dressing changes, and chemotherapy protocols is required

Techs stay on the scanner and don't allow other techs to scan, so your setting up all the scans all day sometimes. .
