Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (PICU/NICU Float)

Location: Phoenix, Arizona
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Summary

  • Role: RN - PICU/NICU Float
  • Float between NICU and acute pediatric patients within the hospital
  • Trauma Level 1 experience required

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of specialty experience in NICU and PICU
  • First-time travelers not accepted unless they have 5+ years of experience
  • Prior travel experience not explicitly required

Work Schedule

  • 3 weekend days per month required
  • No on-call required
  • Not open to block scheduling

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - Advanced required for this unit
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) or ATCN (Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses) acceptable
  • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) required for PICU
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - AWHONN Intermediate preferred
  • State RN License (current, unencumbered) with Primary Source Verification
  • NURSYS Verification (current, unencumbered)

Skills & Experience

  • Experience in NICU and PICU settings
  • Trauma Level 1 experience
  • Ability to float between NICU and acute pediatric units

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License or government-issued photo ID
  • Background checks within 1 year (including SS Trace, 7-year County, National Criminal, FACIS III)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
  • Education verification (diploma or transcripts) required before start
  • Fingerprinting as applicable (results on file within 90 days)
  • Physical exam within 1 year, completed within 72 hours of contract signing
  • Fit mask test completed onsite during orientation
  • Immunizations and health documents required within 72 hours of contract signing:
    • TDAP (within 10 years)
    • Negative TB test (Qgold or Tspot within 1 year) or chest X-ray if prior positive
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella - positive titer or proof of vaccination
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or declination
    • Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
  • Drug testing negative within 12 months (specific panels required)
  • Candidate must complete facility-specific orientation and confidentiality forms

Additional Notes

  • Local candidates are acceptable
  • Candidate must be able to meet weekend requirements
  • No on-call duties
  • Must be able to float between units as needed
