Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Battle Creek, Michigan
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Start Date: January 26th or February 9th desired
• Shift: 36 or 48 hour weeks available
• Orientation: Must be available for the first two weeks of orientation
• Float Requirement: Will float to other Med Surg units approximately once per week
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Team: Work with a variety of staff including RNs, LPNs, and Techs
• Block Scheduling: Not guaranteed or approved at this time

Unit Description

• Medical, Surgical, Oncology Unit (C5) with 37 beds
• Patient types include general medical diagnoses and specialties such as gastrointestinal, urological, and gynecological surgeries
• Other specialties seen: ortho/neurovascular, cardio/pulmonary, GI surgeries, urology, hysterectomies, mastectomies
• Staffing ratios:

  • Nights typically 1:5-6
  • Ratios may flex to 1:7-8 when paired with LPN support

Requirements

Licensure & Certifications

• Michigan RN License (pending license acceptable with proof and ETA)
• BLS (AHA) (pending acceptable if willing to obtain)

Experience

• Minimum 1+ years Med/Surg experience required
• Preference for 2 years Med/Surg experience

Other Certifications (as applicable)

• ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM, NIH Stroke Certification, CPI, ENPC (review unit description for applicability)

Staffing & Work Environment

• Float to other Med/Surg units as needed
• Work with a multidisciplinary team (RNs, LPNs, Techs)
• Ratios and patient assignments may vary based on unit needs

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Criminal background check within 45 days of start, including lifetime search and multiple verifications
• E-Verify and I-9 documentation required
• Education verification (copy of highest degree or diploma)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Drug testing: 10-panel including Marijuana/THC within 45 days of start
• Immunizations and health documents required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (must include pertussis)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 45 days of start
  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
  • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
  • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
  • Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved exemption (for candidates starting after 11/1)
• Fingerprinting (MI LARA) required within 45 days of start for certain positions/units
• Central Registry Clearance required for specific placements (pediatrics, RRT, L&D, Echo Tech)
• Completion of facility-specific documents such as Code of Conduct, Appearance Standards, and Vaccine Exemption forms as applicable

Additional Notes

• Must complete medication/pharmacology competency exam within 1 year prior to assignment start with a passing score of at least 80%
• Must complete competency exam in specialty within 1 year prior to start with passing score of at least 80%
• One professional reference from a supervisor or manager required
• Complete employment application/resume with full 7 years work history, no gaps
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required

• No explicit prior travel experience required for this position
