Job Details

  • Specialty: Intermediate Care Unit (IMC)
  • Experience Required: Minimum 2 years consecutive experience in IMCU
  • First-time Travelers: Accepted
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend required
  • On-call: Not required
  • Floating: Yes, to 3 facilities within 5-20 minutes apart
  • Patient Ratios: Varies
  • Charting System: Epic (required)
  • Block Schedule: Not accommodated
  • Locals Accepted: Yes
  • Return to Office Restrictions: Maximum 5 days

Licensure & Certifications Required

  • Valid Indiana or Compact RN license (must have in hand at time of submission)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (annual requirement)
  • Other certifications as applicable: PALS, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)

Orientation & Testing Requirements

  • Pass/Fail testing on first day of orientation including:
    • Adult and Pediatric Medication Exams
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG Challenge (very detailed and challenging exam)
  • Competency exams including:
    • Medication/Pharmacology competency (annual)
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency (annual, 90% passing score required)
    • Core Parts I, II, III and OSHA mandatory exams (annual)
  • ECG Interpretation CEU recommended for success on EKG exam
  • Acknowledgement of pass/fail testing required

Floating Facilities

  • Community Hospital
  • Saint Catherine Hospital
  • Saint Mary's Hospital

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year prior to start, indicating clearance to work without restrictions
  • Fit mask (N95 respirator) required prior to start; facial hair must comply with OSHA standards
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Immunity or booster documentation for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
  • Drug screening: 10-panel test within 3 weeks of start (no instant tests)
  • Seasonal vaccinations/documentation required:
    • Flu vaccine during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31) or approved exemption
    • COVID-19 vaccination (2 doses Moderna/Pfizer or 1 dose J&J) or approved exemption (no declinations accepted)
  • Color blind testing within 1 year (online acceptable)

Documentation & Compliance

  • Background checks including SS trace, county, nationwide, sex offender, FACIS L3, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
  • Transcript or diploma of highest education required prior to start
  • Employment application and work history verification required
  • Two references from most recent contract required
  • Various facility-specific documents and agreements required prior to start (e.g., confidentiality, credential checklist, medication administration study guides)
  • COVID-19 travel acknowledgement required

  • Floating between three nearby facilities is required
  • Candidates must be prepared for rigorous competency testing, especially the EKG challenge
  • Annual updates required for many certifications and competencies
  • No temporary licenses accepted; must hold permanent or compact RN license prior to signing
