Job Opportunity: MRI Technologist (Travel/Contract)
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Shift: 3x12-hour night shifts (6:00 PM - 6:30 AM)
- Schedule: Every 3rd weekend and holidays as assigned
- Call: 3 weekday day shifts per month and 1 weekend call every 12 weeks
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience as an MRI Technologist (travelers with 1.5 years may be considered if strong Level I or large hospital experience)
- Specialty Experience: Cardiac experience is a major plus
- Equipment Experience: Must have experience with Siemens MRI scanners (unit has 2 Siemens 1.5T Aera scanners)
- Certifications:
- ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) or NMTCB (Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification
- Skills:
- Experience with IV starts strongly preferred
- Additional: Traveler's permanent address must be more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible
Facility & Work Environment
- Performs neuro, musculoskeletal (MSK), and abdominal MRI scans
- Specialty exams include breast, enterography, and patients with pacemakers
- Does not perform cardiac, prostate, CSF flow studies, or MSA extremities
- ICU patients are scanned regularly; MRI-safe ventilator and monitoring equipment available
- No conscious sedation performed
- Uses EPIC EMR system
- Scrubs color: charcoal grey
Certifications & Licenses
- Ohio Radiographer State License preferred
- BLS required (AHA preferred, RQI acceptable)
- ARRT or NMTCB certification required
- Additional certifications may be required based on unit specifics
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 2 years prior to start, indicating clearance to work
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 6 months of start
- Respirator fit test documentation within 1 year (renewed annually)
- Drug screening: Negative 9 or 10 panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start (marijuana tested, no medical marijuana exemptions)
- Required immunizations or proof of immunity:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required by deadline
- Other health documents: TB questionnaire, tetanus/diphtheria/TDAP if applicable
Background Checks & Documentation
- 7-year background check including SS trace, county searches, nationwide criminal search, sex offender search, and sanctions screening
- State-specific searches as required
- Employment application and skills checklist required
- Various facility-specific agreements and acknowledgments required prior to start
Additional Notes
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
- Must be able to pass color blindness testing (100% required on online test; in-person testing if failed)
- Fingerprinting required onsite or prior to orientation for clearance
- Must complete OhioHealth candidate agreements and confidentiality policies before starting
